They say that eyes are the window to the soul, however many food bloggers think that it's really your kitchen. Bloggers from around the world are sharing pics of their kitchen's. I've now seen it all: dirty, clean, vintage, colorful, small, ugly, etc, etc. This movement was started from two different sources according to Delicious Days and tracked via Food Blog Scool and Technorati.
My little kitchen was built in the 1930's and it is small and funky (like me?) but it's great to entertain in. There is a hint of Chinois architecture–as was the fashion then. It is labeled an "Americain kitchen" which means it has a counter/bar dividing the space from the living room. The apartment is furnished, so I actually didn't pick anything out. Thankfully my landlady is a fabulous cook and left me things she thought every good french women would need to get by. I also have the good fortune of having a dishwasher and a garbage disposal. Whew-hoo!!!
There is a huge two story window which allows for endless meditation (with a cafe au lait and croissant, of course). My pantry is normally only half full because there simply isn't any storage room. I find that I do most of my shopping every other day anyway. I'm lucky to have one the largest year-long farmers markets a block away so my countertops are always filled with seasonal produce (kaki, figues, clementines, and grapes right now). And of course, les baguettes.
